Welcome to my pages – I am currently off travelling round the world I started by cycling from London to Moscow then took the train (slowly – 6 and half months) from Moscow to Hong Kong. I am now in South East Asia after 3 weeks in the Philippines. These pages hold the pictures of my journey!
Thursday 11th March 2004 – Singapore
Here I am in Singapore having a Singapore Sling with Alison a girl I met in Russia (she lives in Singapore). Alison doesn’t look so amused because she thinks going to Raffles for a Singapore sling is very touristy and tacky – I had to remind her that I am tacky and I am a tourist! Am in Singapore after having visited Cambodia and Malaysia – both amazing places next stop Papua New Guinea.

Am now in Laos in one of the most beautiful places I have been on the trip! Have just spent two days drifting (quite fast) down the Mekong from the Thailand border to here and next will head for Cambodia. This is a picture of me with the crazy Laos money – I am holding about 18 pounds worth – 50 notes! The more astute will note my new haircut (none!).
Monday 2nd February 2004 – Bangkok
Having finished my 3 weeks in the Philippines”, diving, trekking and exploring with my two German friends Nicole and Ramona, I am now in Bangkok (Traveller Central) but will shortly leave for Laos. Here is me with a python and one of the worlds few snake farms (why do they farm snakes? to collect the venom of course – this one is not posionous though!).
Monday 12th January 2004 – Sagada
After a Christmas day on the Yangtzi river and new year in Hong Kong I am now in the Philippines. Here I am on New Year’s day in Al’s Dinner Hong Kong having an English Breakfast (this was so nice after the food from China). From the left is Ramona, Nicole (Dutch one), Nicole (German one) and me. The second picture is of me on Christmas Eve with the Pandas in Chengdu – aren’t they cute!!
Tuesday 16th December 2003 – Yantai
I have been in Yantai this past month teaching English at Yantai Senior Middle School. this has been a great experience and you can see pictures of my new friends in the sections on Yantai in Part IV China. I am next off to see more of China on the 19th – Xi’an and the Terracotta army first stop. Not sure where I will be for Christmas possibly drifting down the Yansey river, New Year plans are for Hong Kong.
Friday November 7th 2003 – Beijing
Am now in Beijing for the second time – having taken a week or so off in America to see my friends Andy & Jo get married and also visit Sherrie and Stephan in Atlanta. So here are two pics of me – one in Beijing in the forbidden city and the other in the Grand Canyon with Andy before his wedding.
18th October 2003 – Ulan Baatar
Well after a month in Mongolia I am about to leave tomorrow. I can’t believe the things I have seen here – the people living in their tents (gers) the beautiful scenery all over the country and the sand dunes, camels and other features of the Gobi – not to mention the suprise amount of snow I have seen!! Here is a picture of me on a 3 day horse riding trek – trying to discipline the pack horse!
15th September 2003 – Vladivostok
Well I have made it to the Pacific coast – travelled across 1/2 of the earth by road or train (and a couple of boats!). It is great here, weather good and hot – next Mongolia!! New picture – this is me by the Shamon Rock on Olkhon Island Lake Baikal – one of the most beautiful places I have been to.
9th September 2003- Irkutsk
After Altay I went on a journey up the Yenisey river from Krasnoyarsk to Igarka – quite beautiful if a somewhat bizarre boat! I then travelled to Baikal and Irkutsk where I went diving and visited the beautiful Olkhon island – I shall have to come back here – not enough time and too much too see and do!
Friday 22nd August 2003 – Novosibirsk
Have just been trekking in the Altay mountains and rafting and horse trekking – great fun – what a beautiful place. Before this I taught English for 6 days at a English Camp – met some nice people there but the camp turned out to be a bit of a con! Off to Krasnoyask next and maybe the Artic circle!
4th August 2003 – Yekaterinburg
Well no new photos so the one of me in red square will have to stay! I have now taken a great boat trip down the Volga river – this took 9 days and loads of places (in truth I am a bit sick of Kremlins now!). I met lots of nice people on the boat – who luckily for me spoke English and I learned more about Russian culture in 9 days than I have in the previous month! Next – not sure but I am heading east maybe to spend two weeks teaching English and learning Russian.
